Projects that I have attempted

Creation of a LAMP,Linux Apache MySql PhP, server that would host my website ynnam.org. Did not work due to Spectrum my internet provider not allowing port 80 on their end to be open for the wider internet.

Making my own GNU Linux operating system with Manjaro and Gentoo from scratch, both attempts worked to a degree. Still, this was not what I wanted, so Project was on hold for a year until June-July, when I was able to install ArcoLinux, which had a lot of pre-installed Windows Managers, which I switched around until I found one I liked. Although ArcoLinux had what I needed and enjoyed it with the Terminal Emulator and using it daily for a week, I found myself missing Windows a lot and its simplicity. I switched back to windows 10 with a renewed urge to fully understand windows and its features. I then discovered Windows Subsystem for Linux or WSL; this feature was what I wanted with windows and Linux both on the System, with windows being the host OS. WSL allowed me to use my windows apps and WSL with Kali Linux for forensics and other Linux needs. And with wsl on my System, I can access all the windows files with a simple command of cd/mnt/c/User/manny. Accessing downloaded files from windows on Linux was like discovering gold in the gold rush. I was able to finally FINALLY able to access my files easily on Linux.

I struggled with opening files and using them with programs for my needs on Linux, but WSL has made it, so I'm forced to use the command line for everything. I double-check and triple-check everything now, and since I have windows, I can quickly switch to a browser and desktop to troubleshoot any persisting issues. In my opinion, Linux is very technical and customizable, but the barrier to entry is super hard for people who have not grown up around the command prompt. Although I understand conceptual-y what is going on, I still struggle to remember all the little commands and info critical for using Linux proficiently. ArcoLinux being my 3rd attempt at making Linux my primary operating System, I was pushed away from the nuances of the Linux OS. Yeah, it may sound peeved, but there is a reason macOS and Windows have dominated with home use. The ease of use is one less barrier to entry for many. The abundance of tutorials not super specific to an OS branched off from a different OS running this software update, and these programs, like many Distros of Linux. I get why Linux is used for Enterprise and runs the world's servers and internet infrastructure. I think Linux has reached the point of mass adoption but is getting closer each day with new friendlier distros coming out. I believe Linux distros that have GUI take away from the very identity that Linux was, or at least that's what I think. If Linux was more command Prompt-y with less Influence with GUI, I think I would have a different mindset coming to int o Linux expecting something else rather than Windows with more customization. There are Linux distros that are just command lines with added benefits of pre-installed drivers and other often used programs, but I never saw them more than Try hard Linux fanboys distros. I might give Linux another shot, but this time with nothing but a Command line/Terminal Emulator and a dream.
